Film: Brazil

April 17 @ 7:30 pm - 9:45 pm

$5 – $10

Selected by the Production Design Branch.

In a dystopian alternate reality, a government office drone named Sam Lowry (Jonathan Pryce) discovers that a typographical error has led to an innocent man’s arrest, a chain of events that quickly unravels Lowry’s world. Despite being filmed on a modest budget, Brazil is one of director Terry Gilliam’s most visually dazzling films, aided greatly by the imaginative, Academy Award–nominated art direction of production designer Norman Garwood and set decorator Maggie Gray. The vivid supporting cast includes Robert De Niro, Ian Holm, Bob Hoskins, Michael Palin, Jim Broadbent, and Ian Richardson. Gilliam, Tom Stoppard, and Charles McKeown were nominated for their witty original screenplay.
