About the Event
The Gun Woman (1918)

Often described as “the female William Hart,” Texas Guinan plays the Tigress, a tough saloon owner in a gold rush boomtown. She loans her cardsharp lover the money to buy a house, which he has led her to believe they will live in after they’re married. Instead, he takes the money and buys a saloon in another town.

Directed by Frank Borzage | Starring Texas Guinan, Ed Brady and Francis McDonald

Preserved by the Library of Congress | Runtime: 50 minutes

With live musical accompaniment by Andrew Simpson

The Stampede (1921)

Tex Henderson, a Western woman, excels at horse riding to the extent that the cowboy she loves rejects her as being too mannish. When the government opens up land for settlement, Tex joins the land rush, and her expert quick riding outwits others trying to stop her.

Directed by Francis Ford | Starring Texas Guinan, Francis Ford and Frederick Moore

Preserved by the Library of Congress | Runtime: 56 minutes

With live musical accompaniment by Andrew Simpson
