Film: The Visitor

June 29 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

One of the most absolutely wild films of the 70s (…thereby of all time) comes to PRS! Do not miss one of the most fun theater experiences!

Calling all lovers of the weird and wonderful! On the last two Saturdays of June we are presenting two brilliantly bonkers cinematic marvels— the outrageous & gleeful The Legend of the Stardust Brothers (1985) on 6/22 and the uproariously bats**t The Visitor (1979) the following weekend on 6/29. Both are can’t miss, riotous viewing with a crowd in a theater and, because we don’t want you to miss either one, we’re offering a ticket bundle for these two gonzo gems! Just purchase a ticket to one and you’ll receive a discount code for the other!

“Ridiculously entertaining…it’s the schizophrenic mother of all ‘70s drive-in oddities.” – Aaron Hillis, Village Voice

“The Mount Everest of insane ‘70s Italian movies.” – Mondo Digital

Okay folks, get ready. One of the most brilliantly bonkers films of the 70s, i.e. one of the most brilliantly bonkers films of all time, is coming to PRS! Strap in, because here comes THE VISITOR! We can safely say, without hyperbole, that watching this gleefully bizarre and wonderfully WTF oddity with an audience is some of the most fun you’ll have in a theater – an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

No plot synopsis can quite prepare you for the exhilarating, wild ride that is Giulio Paradisi’s 1979 sci-fi/horror/action/thriller/unintentionally hilarious epic, but, basically, “An intergalactic warrior joins a cosmic Christ figure in battle against a demonic eight-year-old girl and her pet hawk, while the fate of the universe hangs in the balance!”

One of the holiest of all Holyf**kingsh**s, THE VISITOR is a wonderful mishmash of THE OMEN, THE BIRDS, ROSEMARY’S BABY, STAR WARS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, there’s even a dash of Alejandro Jodorowsky – but all of that barely hints at the fervor with which director Paradisi (credited as Michael J. Paradise…) hurls his amazing (and more than a bit bizarre) cast – John Huston, Glenn Ford, Shelley Winters, Franco Nero, Lance Henriksen and, yes, even Sam Peckinpah – into the cinematic void. All of this set to an absolutely KILLER, funky Italian score!

Just when you think you’ve nailed down which direction the film’s heading in, THE VISITOR shatters your notion of the time-space continuum with a blackhearted blowout of interplanetary possession, telekinetic avian assault, exploding basketballs and ecclesiastical laser storms. If you’ve seen it, then you already know (and we’ll see you there)! Otherwise, those who hate having an utter blast at the movies get a pass, but for everyone else – you owe it to yourself: Come experience the mindmelting madness of THE VISITOR!

Dir. Giulio Paradisi, 1979, 90m, Rated R, English, Digital.
