Hollywood Pride Conversation and Book Signing

Join the Academy Museum as we welcome author Alonso Duralde to sign and discuss his new book Hollywood Pride: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Representation and Perseverance in Film
Film critic and author Alonso Duralde and filmmaker Justin Simien (Haunted Mansion (2023) and Dear White People (2014) will be discussing Duralde’s book Hollywood Pride, which explores the stories and lives of the LGBTQ+ community both in front of and behind the camera. Alonso presents a history spanning the beginnings of cinema through the “pansy craze” of the 1930s, to the New Queer Cinema of the 1990s through today. After the conversation, there will be a book signing of Hollywood Pride.
