Jonathan Leonard’s 75th Annual Juneteenth Celebration Picnic

[LOS ANGELES, CA, JUNE 19, 2024] – The family of Jonathan Leonard is excited to celebrate Juneteenth in Leimert Park with their 75th annual picnic.

The tradition of Jonathan Leonard’s Juneteenth Celebration began as a backyard barbecue in the summer of 1949. The Leonard Family was eager to share the traditions they brought to California from Texas by serving barbecue, watermelon, and red soda water to the community in honor of the momentous day of freedom. Over the years, the crowd grew and Mr. Leonard made Leimert Park the place to be on the 19th of June.

Jonathan Leonard served the community with great passion and the legacy of Jonathan Leonard’s Juneteenth in Leimert Park is continued by his wife, children, grandchildren, and loved ones who look forward to this year’s picnic.

Jonathan Leonard’s 75th Annual Juneteenth Celebration Picnic will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in Leimert Park from 1 PM – 6 PM. The Leonard Family welcomes the community to share in barbecue, watermelon, and red soda water.
