Music: Latin Sounds – Cambalache

June 15 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Latin Sounds features world-renowned artists performing everything from Indigenous music to the latest sounds from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Los Angeles! These free concerts are presented Saturday evenings at the Dorothy Collins Brown Amphitheater at LACMA, where you can enjoy open seating and picnicking on the grounds

This week, join us for a concert with Cambalache.

Cambalache is a son jarocho band based in East Los Angeles. The group, whose name means exchange, was founded in 2007 and is led by César Castro, a performer, teacher and instrument maker from Veracruz, Mexico, home of Son Jarocho traditional folk music. They are inspired by the fandango, a traditional community-based celebration of folk music and dance in the Veracruz region. While their music is deeply rooted in the traditions of Veracruz, Cambalache brings their own, distinctly East Los Angeles sound with Cesar’s hand-made instruments, and some modern electric strings, including a custom electric upright bass.

Latin Sounds is free and open to all. Seating is limited and first come, first served.
