The Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission (LACCRC) released its adjusted draft map, which places almost all of the Greater Wilshire area in CD4.
The first draft map of new city council boundaries, released on January 25, had placed all of Greater Wilshire in CD5. The Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council, along with hundreds of area residents, applauded the initial re-unification of the area within a single council district – instead of the three it has been divided among for the last 10 years – but protested the CD5 placement, claiming our area has more in common with other historic single-family neighborhoods in other parts of CD4 than it does with many newer westside areas represented by CD5.
The one part of Greater Wilshire not placed in CD4 in the adjusted draft map is the area west of Highland Ave., from Fourth Street north to Willoughby.
The LACCRC will meet again on Wednesday, February 22 at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall to discuss and vote on a Final Map Recommendation that will be forwarded to the LA City Council.
