Arcade Fire Going to Close Down Vine & Light Up Capitol Records Tonight

Monday night a light show was tested on the Capitol Records building - all for tonights Arcade Fire performance on the site.
A multicolored light show was tested on the Capitol Records building Monday night for tonight’s performance by the Arcade Fire.

The Arcade Fire is promoting their eagerly-awaited new album “Reflektor” with some surprise performances around the country, one of which is happening tonight in front of the Capitol Records building on Vine , sure to be a surprise to those commuting in and out of the mid-City area via the 101 freeway.

The LA Times reports that tickets for the event, expected to start at 5 pm, were not sold but were only obtained through jumping through some “social media challenges” via the website Music Experiment:

Earn tickets by contributing creatively – in the form of decorated CDs, “Reflektor”-related memes, smartphone self-portraits and more. It’s also been requested that winners come to the concert wearing costumes.

If you’re an Arade Fire fan and don’t want to get caught in the chaos up at the Capitol Records building, consider viewing the gig via live stream at www.MusicExperiment.com where we’re told you can pick your camera angle, stalk a single band member throughout the concert, or edit your own experience. This is the new world of promotion, and Hollywood is a great test site for it.

You’ve been warned – either jump in the fray this evening or avoid the Hollywood and Vine area as best you can!
