The deadline to complete the 2020 Census, which will help determine everthing from election district boundaries to school funding, social services and more – for the next ten years – is September 30, just 16 days away.
And as this map from the Census and the Statewide Outreach and Rapid Deployment (SwORD) shows, there are still many people who have not yet responded to the important community count. (The areas in shades of purple have higher response rates than the orange-toned neighborhoods. The deeper the purple, the better the rate; the deeper the orange, the worse the response rate.)

As you can see from the detail above, our Greater Wilshire neighborhoods, overall, are doing better (more purple) than many other areas of the city. And special kudos go to parts of Brookside and Sycamore Square, in the bottom center of the image above, which are in the highest tier, with 85-100% response rates in several census tracts.
But there is definitely room for improvement…and anyone who hasn’t yet completed the census should do so as soon as possible. You can find the form online at http://www.2020census.gov, or call 1-844-330-2020 to complete the survey over the phone.
