Christmas Season Kicks Off this Weekend at the Grove

Christmas Tree Lighting at the Grove

You’ve heard a hint of Christmas music, seen green and red taking over the aisles where orange once dominated. This weekend it’ll be confirmed when the Grove lights their 100 foot tree – Christmas is just around the corner.

The Grove kicks off its holiday shopping season with the 10th Annual “Hollywood Christmas Celebration at the Grove” taking place this Sunday, November 11th beginning at 7:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s gala will include a visit from Santa, lighting of the 100 foot tall tree, a sprinkling of snow, and a stage show of Hollywood talent including the Backstreet Boys, Michael Bolton, Melanie Fiona, Colbie Caillat, DJ JibbJock,  Mario Lopez, Scotty McCreery (Season 10 winner of American Idol), Rickey Minor and His Band,a hip-hop quarter called Far East Movement, and Phillip Phillips ( Season 11 winner of American Idol.) The evening will conclude with a fireworks finale at approximately 9:30 pm.

More information can be found on the Grove website. Last year’s tree lighting drew some 10,000 people, many who waited in line from 3 pm on to get a spot in the outdoor mall with visibility of the stage. Expect big crowds, little access to restroom facilities and a dazzling spectacle if you make your way to the Grove – just don’t expect to get any christmas shopping done. That can wait, hopefully till after Thanksgiving.
