COVID-19 Impact on Women Series with Councilmember David Ryu and LA Commission on the Status of Women

CD4 Councilmember David Ryu and the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women are co-hosting these upcoming events.

Tomorrow is the second session of “Women in the Time of COVID-19!” webinar series hosted by City Councilmember David Ryu. This session will focus on “Domestic Violence & Homelessness,” with a panel of local experts.

Elizabeth Eastlund of Rainbow Services DV, Faye Washington of YWCA Greater Los Angeles, Kandee Lewis of The Positive Results Corporation, and Eve Sheedy of the LA County Domestic Violence Council will be joining Councilmember Ryu.

“Thank you to City of Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women for co-hosting. During the pandemic, many women are trapped in dangerous situations,” wrote Ryu on his Facebook page announcing the program. “Domestic violence is a pervasive issue – in fact, nearly a third of women who visit emergency rooms are there for injuries related to ongoing partner abuse.”

The panel starts at 11 a.m. Register at bit.ly/cd4session2

Next week, the series will continue with State Senator Holly Mitchel joining Ryu and other panelists to discuss employment and childcare.

Both events are free and open to all.  Links to the events are available at http://davidryu.lacity.org/women_in_the_time_of_covid_19_domestic_violence_homelessness
