Think you can name the best picture Oscar winners from the last few years? How about for the last 84 years? Well, the Academy has published an online exercise of sorts to test your memory of the annual winners. It’s kind of a fun visual guessing game to scroll through if you’re one of those who gets ramped up with Oscar Fever.

oscars2004For this year’s 85th Academy Awards, the official poster celebrates previous years by presenting Oscar, slightly adapted with visual clues, to celebrate the winner for each year.  Designed by English artist Olly Moss in collaboration with Gallery1988, the poster features 85 Oscar statuettes representing the Best Picture winners from 1927 through 2012.

To make it a game, the Academy has set up the scroll-through page online  to test your memory. Each statuette is first seen with just the date, leaving you reading the clue to guess the winner for that year. Scroll right and the following screen shows the title of the winning film.

Only a true Oscar devotee will probably make it all the way back to 1927 – but give it a whirl yourself and see how many you can name. Find it at Oscar.go.com.
