GWNC Transportation Committee Meets Monday, June 6 at 7 pm

You can’t help but notice that our neighborhood is currently the focus of City’s transportation improvement efforts with the construction of the Purple Line extension of Metro. Twenty-two planned closures of sections of Wilshire Boulevard are scheduled to begin next weekend as Metro begins the now infamous La Brea Decking phase of the construction. A press conference is scheduled for next week so look for more information from the Buzz on the details.

But if you want to learn more about the City’s efforts to improve transportation or the Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Great Streets program, consider attend the next Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council Transportation Committee on Monday, June 6.  Lilly O’Brien, Great Streets Program Manager, will give a presentation on improvements to Western Avenue, which has been designated a “Great Street,” including additional, more intensive pedestrian safety improvements consistent with LA’s Vision Zero. Here’s a link to the agenda so you can see what topics will be addressed http://greaterwilshire.org/pdf/agenda060…

The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Youth Chapel room of the Wilshire United Methodist Church, 4350 Wilshire Blvd. (SW corner of Wilshire & Plymouth). Free parking is available in the large lot on the west side of the church (enter from Wilshire Blvd.).

The meeting is open to the public and neighbors are encouraged to attend.  In fact, urged to attend so you can make sure your voice is heard.
