Hancock Park Elementary School will celebrate its 75th year serving the local community this Saturday, October 20th in a celebration of its heritage with the theme a “Neighborhood School, A World of Diversity.”
Founded in 1937, Hancock Park School provides public education to grades K-5 with the fundamental goal of “inspiring lifelong learners.” More than two-dozen languages are spoken at Hancock Park School, creating a unique environment where both multi-generational families and recent immigrants find a home and enjoy a quality education.
The family-friendly community event is free and open to the public and will include a bevy of international food trucks to make it a lunch-time experience. Enter on Colgate, just east of Fairfax, park on Colgate.
11:30am – Gate Opens with international food trucks ready to serve. The Kids Gallery will be open for viewing.
12 pm – Activities including basketball game, LACMA art project, face painting, and cookbook sales.
1 pm – Speakers including the HPE Principal Mrs. Ashley Parker, Councilman Tom LaBonge and others. A student drama performance will follow, along with a posthumous tribute to Mr. Walter Paige, HPE Custodian, and finally, the Parade of Nations in which children will represent the 28 languages and cultures spoken at Hancock Park School.
