Hollywood Lacrosse Team Gears Up for Winter Season

Hollywood Bear player goes in for an attack.

The Hollywood Bear Lacrosse team is ramping up for its second season. Coach Robert Woodley is looking for interested  7-12 year old boys to play on the Hollywood teams (Under11, and Under13) in the West LA Lacrosse League this year.  Last year they barely had enough for one team at U11, but their quick growth is a testament to the dedication that the players and parents have shown over the last year and to the fun associated with playing lacrosse.

The Hollywood Bears have a brand-new team website, and are asking that ALL interested families (even those who replied to Coach Rob before) register online via the registration page at the Hollywood Lacrosse website. The schedule page online contains all events through early March to give parents and players an idea of time commitment for the season. Practices take place Monday and Thursdays 5:30-7:30 at the Hollywood Rec Center, and games are scheduled for Saturdays.

The current list of players on the Hollywood Bears include kids from Larchmont Charter, St. James, Pacific Hills, Community Magnet, Melrose Magnet and St. Brendan, among other schools.

Robert Woodley, coach for the Bears, is enthusiastic about the program. “Not only does lacrosse get kids in great physical shape, but it’s also a great way to teach them teamwork, communication, and confidence,” he told the Larchmont Buzz.  “Our coaching style is positive, fair, and firm, with an emphasis on integrity.” Woodley hopes that a girls lacrosse team can be started next year.

The season begins December 3rd, so get over to the Bears website pronto if you have a future lacrosse player in your sights.
