An 87 year old home at 644 South Muirfield Road sustained significant fire damage Wednesday night. More than 40 firefighters battled the fire that started on the [first] floor around 7:30p. According to the LAFD, the fire was stubborn on both floors and into the attic.
Fire crew from LAFD Fire Station #29 were first responders. Knockdown took about 75 minutes and there were no injuries reported.
Reports circulated via twitter that next door neighbor Christian Audigier called the fire in to 911. If that’s the case, bravo Mr. Audigier! And thanks to LAFD…seeing them at work was quite awesome. They take so many risks on our behalf.
UPDATE 3/29 12:15a: According to LAFD, the fire stared on the first floor and quickly engulfed the 2nd floor and attic. During the fire, a large portion of the 2nd floor collapsed into the floor below. No one, including firefighters, were injured during the course of the event. The home was under renovation. Exact cause of the fire is under investigation. See LAFD post about the incident.
