Halloween is right around the corner and there are lots of ways to celebrate this year. If you are curious to see how the #1 arts high school in the nation, located right here in L.A., celebrates Halloween, check out  the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) Halls of Horror 2022, featuring two immersive live theatre experiences. Audiences can follow the Mad Hatter through eerie versions of fairy tales gone wrong in Happily Never After, then travel to Isla de las Muñecas, where a population of sweetly sinister dolls serve as talismans against a dark tragedy that happened long ago.

We learned about this amazing event from a Buzz reader with a student in the program.

“The collaboration for Halls of Horror is unique because it draws students from every department to work on this event,” Lisa Henderson, LACHSA theatre tech instructor, professional architect and mom in charge of the build told the Buzz. “It’s not simply the actors from the theatre department but it’s the Visual Arts students, the cinematic kids, dance department kids and vocalists. It’s an opportunity for them to flex their talents in a different way and learn how to do something they maybe haven’t done before. Like writing a script or designing a set.”

All are welcome at this local community event, now located at 515 E. Fairview Ave. in San Gabriel, October 27-29 from 6:30-10pm. Recommended age is 10+. All story concepts, sets, costumes and characters are created by the students. Tickets on sale now for $25 at https://www.lachsa.net/boxoffice. Proceeds benefit the LACHSA Theatre Department.
