We found @larchmontneighbors on Instagram in January. After following the account for a few weeks, we decided to reach out and see if we could meet the creator. Like so many of us, Jade Ikeda was delighted to discover Larchmont and has made it her home. She has also found her own way to share that affection and support the local businesses in our neighborhood through her daily posts and stories on Instagram. We found her a delightfully enthusiastic Larchmont neighbor and thought you should meet her, too.
Are you having a great time in Larchmont?
This is Jade from Larchmont Neighbors. It’s nice to virtually meet you. I just started my Instagram called @larchmontneighbors and Larchmont Buzz gave me an opportunity to introduce myself here.
I am Japanese and your neighbor who loves Larchmont! I used to work in this neighborhood when I moved here 8 years ago. It was a very enjoyable experience with amazing neighbors so it was hard to leave, however the company I worked for moved.
After the world changed these past 2 years, I realized again how amazing our community is. I enjoyed walking around and grabbing coffee almost everyday during quarantine. Larchmont has always been kind to me with its friendly neighbors who smile at each other, lots of trees and benches, a variety of boutiques and a peaceful environment – it’s always welcoming and gives good vibes. I was surprised when someone who passed by me on the street said, “Thanks for your big smile :)”. That quick, simple moment made me very happy. I believe this kind of neighbor is everywhere on Larchmont. This community has given me lots of happiness, especially when I couldn’t see my family for awhile during the pandemic.
I’ve been thinking about how I can give back to our neighbors and the community. I’d like to work much more for them and share this charming community to others as well. I feel that we need a strong community and to help each other during this difficult time. My account is all about capturing the businesses, services, people, things, moments, even the feelings on Larchmont to share and connect with others. How amazing would it be if our neighbors and local businesses could get to know each other more and create a stronger community?
