Memorial Park Eucalyptus Trimmed

Tree Surgeons from Recreation and Parks were trimming this giant Eucalyptus tree in Memorial Park in Brookside this morning

Seems today was the day for tree trimming. In addition to Hancock Park’s trees, a giant Eucalyptus in Memorial Park in Brookside was getting trimmed this morning. Crews from Recreation and Parks were reducing the crown of the giant tree which was becoming top heavy, according to Luis Diaz, a tree surgeon for the City’s department of Recreation and Parks.

We were a little worried when we saw crews working on the tree but we were pleased to learn it was only a long overdue trimming. By the time we left, Mr. Diaz assured us they were done trimming. He said we weren’t the only ones concerned about the tree! He also said he thinks could be one of the oldest trees planted in the park along with one other close by.

A companion Eucalyptus tree stands nearby in Memorial Park, both are likely the oldest trees in the park.
