Mid City West Community Council Candidate Filing Deadline is March 19

Interested to residents are invited to consider running for a seat on the MidCity West Community Council. The filing deadline for candidates is 5:00 pm on March 19.

If want to have a voice in the future of your neighborhood, serving on the board of its council is the place for you!

“Now more than ever, we live in a time when being involved at a local level to work to improve our neighborhoods for all its residents can be the most effective way to bring positive changes to our area and in our lives,” said long-time Mid City West resident and Election Committee member, Amy Goldenberg.

Residents and stakeholders of Mid City West have until March 19, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. to file to run for a seat on the next community council board. Candidate registration is online at https://clerk.lacity.org/elections/neighborhood-council-elections.

There are 35 seats on the board in 6 categories: 3 Homeowner representatives, 5 Renter representatives, 6 Non profit representatives, 6 Business representatives, 7 Geographic Zone representatives, and 8 At-Large representatives. Zone representatives must live within the boundaries of the zone in which they are running. See map for details: midcitywest.org/about-us/boundaries-of-mid-city-west/.

All other 28 seats are open to any Mid City West stakeholder. Stakeholders are considered those “who live, work or own real property in the neighborhood, and also those who declare a stake in the neighborhood as a community interest stakeholder, defined as a person who affirms a substantial and ongoing participation within the Neighborhood Council’s boundaries and who are older than 18 years.”
