More Christmas Trees Arriving at Wilshire Rotary Lot on Larchmont

Wilshire Rotary Christmas Tree lot looked a little bare this morning, but not for long – more than 300 trees are expected today, and another 400 are coming tomorrow.

Update: Unfortunately, the delivery truck broke down this morning so trees are now expected to arrive Friday. We will check in with the lot and keep readers updated

The Wilshire Rotary Christmas Tree lot looks a little bare right now, but not for long. After a brisk weekend of sales, the Wilshire Rotarians report they sold out of nearly 700 trees. But this morning, as we write this post, more trees are on their way.

“We expect 300 trees today, and another 400 tomorrow, so we will be fully stocked and ready for the weekend,” Diane Aldahl, manager of the lot told the Buzz this morning. We ran into her at the RiteAid where she was buying diapers to donate to the families at Camp Pendleton. (There’s a collection box for diapers at the lot if you want to help out, too.)

It’s a good idea to shop early if you can; weekends are usually the busiest times on the lot. But it’s a pleasant place to hang out and take in the scent of pine trees if you have a wait a bit. The lot also sells wreathes, garlands and other holiday decorations, as well as some handy items like a tree watering funnel.

The lot is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and COVID-19 protocols require everyone to wear a mask and maintain  social distancing. There’s plenty of hand sanitizer and gloves for shoppers, workers and volunteers.

Proceeds from the lot support the extensive charities of the Rotary Foundation around the world. Wilshire Rotarians can be found volunteering at the lot, as well as providing meals for the lot staff, who are constantly working setting up trees, grooming the lot, and making deliveries. Yes, the lot will deliver locally for $25.
