Jonathan Skow, husband and business partner of fashion designer Trina Turk, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center over the weekend, according to the Desert Sun newspaper. “Skow was paralyzed a few weeks ago from the neck down during a swimming accident in Hawaii,” the Desert Sun reported.  “On Saturday, he called his wife, designer Trina Turk, and his family into his room to say goodbye, Palm Springs City Council member and family friend J.R. Roberts said.”

Skow, 55, was a fashion designer, photographer and the inspiration behind the Mr. Turk product line. Skow and Turk are widely credited with revitalizing the Uptown Design District in Palm Springs, after opening Trina’s flagship store there on North Palm Canyon Drive. The couple lived in Los Angeles and were excited to open a store on Larchmont last March.

The Buzz met Jonathan several times at various events at the couple’s store at 216 N. Larchmont. He was welcoming and gregarious, always stylishly dressed, and seemed to truly enjoy the company’s newest boutique in a familiar neighborhood.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family, and with the staff at Trina Turk.
