Plastic Bag Collection at the Larchmont Family Fair Tomorrow

Mark your calendar for the return of the Larchmont Family Fair on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Photo from 2019.)

Organizers of the Larchmont Family Fair know that street events create a lot of trash, so they’ve teamed up with Ridwell, a Portland-based recycle & re-use company that helps people waste less by offering twice monthly pickups from your home. Ridwell picks up plastic bags (ziplocks, amazon mailers, bread bags, etc), batteries, lightbulbs, clothing, and other unique items that can be reused and kept out of landfills.  According to its website, Ridwell has to date kept nearly 10 million pounds of trash out of landfills.

Ridwell will be at the Larchmont Family Fair collecting plastic bags at the ticket booth. So stop by, pick up your tickets, and drop off some plastic bags! It’s one small way we can offset some of the trash created from the Fair.

Remember: Larchmont Blvd will be closed tomorrow starting at 6 a.m. to set up for the Larchmont Family Fair, which starts at 2 p.m. As we have reported, after a two-year hiatus due to that thing we know all too well, the Larchmont Family Fair is back and better than ever with new features and fun happening on Sunday, October 30 from 2-7 p.m.

Thanks to the Larchmont Boulevard Association (LBA) and generous local sponsors (including – shameless plug – the Larchmont Buzz), this beloved neighborhood tradition has been reinvented this year. There will be two entertainment stages.  First is a concert stage featuring composer Stephen Endelman directing a band and four vocalists performing classic cinematic songs, starting at 5:30 p.m. The concert stage is conveniently located next to the inaugural beer garden, which will be serving artisanal beers from a local family-owned brewery. Even if you’re not into rides and inflatables, come to Larchmont for the concert and enjoy a glass of wine or beer.

And at the other end of the street, there will also be a Children’s Stage, with 3 hours of diverse programming for kids, from 2-5 p.m., curated by Cheri Moon, Larchmont’s own Grammy-nominated children’s musician and creator of the former Snooknuk play space.

Tickets for rides/concerts can be bought online here or in-person at the fair. Ride tickets are $5, concert tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 14 and under. No tickets are required to enter the street, and all the programming on the Children’s Stage is free.

Bonus: Jeni’s Ice Cream will be giving away free kids scoops to kids in costumes, Shopaholic Sample Sales is passing out candy and Tailwaggers is passing out pet treats.
