  1. I really don’t understand the huge disparity between the vote totals in the two neighborhood councils. Did GWNC Geographic Area 15 really have only 7 votes cast? Area 6 had 3 votes cast? While MCWCC’s lowest vote count was for Area 1 at 57 votes?

Is this a density issue or is it related to the debacle of absentee ballot applications for GWNC?

    • Individual neighborhood councils are allowed to set their own rules about who gets to vote for which of their board seats. In the GWNC election, only people who live, work, or own property within the boundaries of a specific geographic area can vote for that area’s seat on the board. Also, in addition to a geographic area seat, voters can choose only one other race (at large, or one of the five “special interest” seats) to vote in. In contrast, all voters in the Mid City West election can vote for all the individual seats on the board. So that means there will be a lot more people voting for each seat in that election than in the GWNC election. Doesn’t necessarily say anything about the total number of voters in either election, or about specific ballot issues in either election.
