The fifth annual Renegade Craft Fair takes place this weekend at downtown’s LA State Historic Park. The list of vendors is curated to create a group of 250 indie crafters – chosen for their originality, quality, price point and how the crafters fit in with event organizers overall vision for the fair. The people at Renegade aim to showcase the brightest experienced and emerging talent from across the crafting landscape.
We asked Hancock Park do-it-yourself/crafts blogger, Kelly Lanza, for a few tips about this year’s Renegade Craft Fair. Lanza is one of the most creative crafters we know – and a trusted champion of the best in craft. Be sure to follow her blog at StudioDIY.com (and on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
StudioDIY.com Renegade Craft Fair Tips:
Oh, Hello Friend always has one of the most popular booths, and for good reason! It’s full of sweet little stationery and packaging goods, delicate jewelry and small home items. If you need a unique gift, this is the place to hit. On the edible front, I’m always in awe of the flavor combinations from Lemon Bird Jams. Head to their booth, try a few and then pick up a few jars to have on hand as hostess gifts (and one or two for yourself, too!). I’m also looking forward to trying out My Brigadeiro’s bite sized brazillian treats. I’ve herd great things about these chocolate candies and can’t wait to confirm my (delicious) assumptions about them.
Renegade is always chock full of amazing jewelry and accessory designers. For myself, I’m excited to learn more about Delusions of Grandeur and their geometric pieces, as well as HOMAKO’s whimsical necklaces and hair accessories. For the kiddos, Janie XY’s plush toys are almost too adorable to resist! And for the men in my life, I am consistently intrigued by the patterns and quality of Pocket Square Clothing’s products, and their awesome branding! Pocket squares and bow ties have never looked so good.
We drive to Renegade Craft Fair and park across the street from the fair. It’s usually pretty easy to find a spot, but as always in LA, be sure to check the signs.
The show is in a big open field and it can get hot. Try to avoid the mid-day heat and rush if you can. Stay hydrated and grab a gourmet popsicle from the Front Porch Pops cart. It’s worth it! The show is dog friendly so bring your pup along, but be sure to bring some water for them too! When looking at the map, I start at the bottom left corner and weave my way up and down the aisles to make sure I catch every booth. If you’re not in the mood for what the food trucks have to offer once your done with the show and starving, the diner across the street is pretty great too!

All great tips! Here’s one more…most vendors take credit cards, but some are cash only. Do bring cash or look for ATMs on park grounds.
