Workers from the Los Angeles Department of Transportation installed stop signs heading east-west on 1st Street at Irving Boulevard in Windsor Square – making this intersection a 4-way stop and helping to contribute to a slower, presumably safer trip between Larchmont Boulevard and Wilton Place. The signs were installed thanks to the concerted efforts from Councilman Tom LaBonge and his office.
Buzz readers might remember that the intersection of 1st Street and Windsor Boulevard became a 4-way stop back in May (see Buzz Story link). This week’s addition of stop signs at 1st Street and Irving Boulevard makes for 4-way stops at 6 of the 8 intersections along this section of 1st Street.
The most dangerous intersection on that stretch is 1st and Beachwood – where 1st does a blind curve. Lots of accidents there all the time. I wonder why all of these other intersections got stop signs and not that one.
