Around 3:00. this morning, Tailwaggers Pet Food and Supply at 147 N. Larchmont Blvd. was broken into, according to owner, Todd Warner. Security camera footage shows the thieves broke in through a side window.
“It seems like they were searching through the store looking for a safe,” Warner told the Buzz. “But we were very lucky they didn’t take anything. All our computers and iPads were left untouched.”
Warner got the call last night from his alarm company. He immediately checked his security footage and called 911. LAPD was on the scene within moments, having been also been called by nearby neighbors who heard the sound of the glass breaking.
Warned told the Buzz he learned that two other Larchmont stores have been broken into recently in a similar manner. The thieves were searching the store, looking for a safe. They parked in the alley and seemed to have planned the break-in. At one store, the thieves were able to remove the safe and came back a second time. Warner told the Buzz that LAPD suspects the same people were involved in all the break-ins.
Since they haven’t been caught, however, there’s also a chance they will come back, so Warner said he wants to make sure the community is aware of the break-in, so customers know what happened. He said he’s also thankful that the neighbors called LAPD when they heard the glass breaking.
No one was injured and nothing was taken, Warner said, but there’s lots of glass to clean up and most of the damage won’t be covered by his insurance policy.
