If you’ve driven up La Brea lately you can’t help but notice all the construction projects underway in the vicinity of the West Hollywood Target. This swath of the busy boulevard, replete with the Cemex Concrete Plant, auto repair, and various chain drug stores and fast food outlets is in need of a bit of revitalization and some charm.
According to an article last week in LA Streets Blog.org there is a lot of development underway in this half mile stretch where the Jon’s Supermarket, the Carl’s Jr and other well-worn businesses once stood. The article gives a great recap (with photos) of what’s there now and what is scheduled to be built.

The five new projects will provide high-density housing along with some mixed-use commercial and retail space. While some may cry out against the expected increased traffic congestion, others are hoping to find the area more livable and walkable with housing and shops street accessible.
