Gilmore Station, the new shopping center on the northwest corner of Fairfax Avenue and 3rd Street, has its first fully operational tenant in Trader Joe’s – the fan favorite neighborhood grocery store. Trader Joe’s opened last Friday and is still a little under the radar based on a relatively open parking lot at 3:30p on a Thursday. But that’s not likely be the case for much longer!
In our estimation, this is likely to be the most popular execution of Trader Joe’s for our neighborhood. The parking lot is large and very convenient – with approximately 200 normal size parking spots. And of course everything is shiny and new inside!
There are two other tenants moving in next door to Trader Joe’s at Gilmore Station. Next week, Mendocino Farms Sandwich Shop will open on Thursday, May 31st. And premier paperie Paper Source is completing construction and should open shortly after.

About Mary
Mary has lived in the Hancock Park area for over 20 years - including homes in Larchmont Village and Windsor Square. Mary has lived in some great places in her life - but none compare to the convenience and majesty of our neighborhood. For Mary, the neighborhood has been a wonderful home to her large, extended family...at one time she had family members living on seven different Hancock Park area blocks! Larchmont Buzz is a labor of love - built to celebrate the neighborhood and to elevate the conversation in the area.
just went the other night – but almost got into two accidents in that parking lot!
Is it because it’s too narrow? I noticed there weren’t a lot of options when someone was stopped in front of you waiting for a car to back out.
Trader JoE’s, not Trader Jo’s
Jeez – you’re right! My bad. I went back in and changed. You can tell I don’t shop there. If this parking lot is better I’m going to. And I will never forget how to spell it:) Thanks
