Los Angeles Walks is a volunteer supported organization dedicated to promoting walking and pedestrian infrastructure in Los Angeles, educating Angelenos and local policymakers concerning the rights and needs of pedestrians of all abilities, and fostering the development of safe and vibrant environments for all pedestrians.
This Sunday the group is conducting a walk along the LA River through the section that runs adjacent to Atwater Village. It’s a 3 mile round trip walk and includes time to enjoy a picnic lunch along the river. The weather forecast is perfect – Â 77 degrees!
It seems like Los Angeles has only recently begun to recognize the value of a revitalized LA River. The non-profit LA River Revitalization Corporation is leading the charge towards responsible development and revitalization in accordance with the LA River Master Plan. This means parks, open spaces, mixed use buildings, retail and housing opportunities along the river’s path.
Interested walkers should meet at 10:30am Sunday morning at food and art space Thank You For Coming where you can purchase a brown bag lunch for the hike.
