The Windsor Square Association held its 3rd annual tribute to Block Captains with a dinner on Tuesday evening, September 11th, at the home of June and Paul Bilgore of Windsor Blvd. The backyard function took place on a balmy evening with some 85 residents in attendance. Windsor Square President Larry Guzin took charge of the evening’s program which included a thanks to all those assembled for their dedicated work in bringing the community together and connecting the 1,100 residents with one another.
Council District 4 Chief of Staff, Carolyn Ramsay, and Field Deputy Ben Seinfeld worked the crowd, while a large contingent of police hosted a question/answer period. LAPD representatives included Captain Eric Davis, Lieutenant Lillian Carranza and Senior Lead Officer David Cordoza from Wilshire Division, as well as Captain Tina Nieto and Senior Lead Officer Joseph Pelayo from Olympic Division. On the whole, crime is down in the area although property crime is still occurring. The LAPD thanked the crowd for their neighborhood watch efforts, and urged everyone to continue to connect with residents and the police in keeping the neighborhood safe.
The dinner was coordinated by Caroline Labiner Moser and Katie Jones-Badami who worked with the Bilgore hosts to make it a colorful, joyful event for all who attended. Windsor Square residents interested in joining the ranks of the WSA Block Captains are encouraged to contact the Co-Chairs at [email protected].
