Sycamore Kitchen Opens on La Brea

If this were a duel of the notorious Hatfield-McCoy feud, we’d guess the Hatfields have won at first shot. The just-opened Sycamore Kitchen on La Brea has opened with a bang judging by the packed house for lunch on Saturday.

The husband and wife team of Karen and Quinn Hatfield opened their new lunch-time and soon-to-be-breakfast spot at 143 South La Brea in a clean industrial looking space. The hot block is peppered with skater clothing stores and high-end home furnishing spots – there’s even a new baby shop Beginnings near the Sycamore, all which line the west side of the street, across from the long-trendy American Rag across the street.

The chef team, best known for Hatfield’s on Melrose, is offering up fine pastries and delectable sandwiches from all house-made ingredients. Judging by the long line waiting to order at the 11 am opening, and the packed tables in the spacious outdoor patio that faces La Brea, the neighborhood was itching to get in the door of this place. The menus are still just on photocopied office paper and breakfast is not yet served, but the Sycamore Kitchen is open for business.
