Bizarre Break-In Attempt at Golf Course Adjacent Home

Crime-2

This story has been updated regarding the home invasion robbery in Sycamore Square.

SSA Security reported a bizarre incident of  an individual who tried to break into a golf course adjacent home in the 500 block of Lillian Way while yelling “let me in” early Wednesday morning.

According to SSA, they received a call from an SSA client just after 5:50am who reported that a person was attempting to break into his home by breaking a front window while shouting. The suspect then turned and ran out of sight.

When the SSA Officer arrived on scene, a private security guard from the Wilshire Country Club briefed him on the actions of the suspect.  Shortly thereafter, LAPD – Wilshire patrol units arrived since the client also notified 911.

According to the Wilshire Country Club’s private security guard, he saw a  a male suspect trespassing on the golf course.  When both the suspect and guard observed each other the suspect ran from the gold course property.  The guard continued the chase and observed the suspect run to the client’s home in the 500 block of Lillian Way.  The suspect began pounding on a front window of the home, yelling “let me in.” The guard then saw the suspect jump the client’s gate, onto his property, discarding something on the hood of the client’s car (later observed to be two screwdrivers).

The suspect disappeared and was not found after a thorough search of the area. It is unknown what the suspect’s intentions were, either using the golf course to travel unseen to neighborhoods and possibly break into cars or to break into the golf course buildings.

The suspect was described as a male, African-American, approximately 20-30 years old, 5-5″ of medium build, wearing a blue “hoody,” black pants and a black baseball cap.

Fortunately the homeowner had all the doors and windows shut and locked thus prohibiting a person from entering the home because it’s possible the suspect was attempting to enter the home in an effort to evade the private security guard.

SSA shared this with the Buzz in an effort to inform all homes adjacent to the golf course and recommend they lock all doors and windows at night and if available, set the alarm on the perimeter.  Should another incident occur, immediately call SSA and LAPD via 911.

Earlier today we reported that a resident reported a home invasion robbery Wednesday morning at Citrus and 8th street in Sycamore Square on Nextdoor.com. According to Senior Lead Officer Dave Cordova, a home invasion robbery occurred on March 6th in the 700 block of Citrus. The suspects are still at large. It seems the Nextdoor.com posting appears to be referring to that earlier incident. LAPD was not aware of any recent robberies in that area.
