LA Marathon Will Impact Sunday Traffic

The LA Marathon takes place on Sunday, March 17th with runners covering 26.2 miles from LA’s Dodger Stadium to the intersection of Ocean Avenue and California Avenue in Santa Monica. These days the Marathon route is mostly north of our neighborhood, but street closures will impact normal Sunday travel to Hollywood, the Valley, the 101 Freeway (see closures below) and east-west through our neighborhood. The detour routes for the diverted traffic come as far south as Beverly Boulevard and include Melrose Avenue.

The Marathon starts early – with wheelchairs starting at 6:55am; hand cycles at 7:00am and everyone else at 7:28am. The streets reopen to vehicular traffic on a rolling basis at approximately a 15-minute mile pace. Click on the map below to see a larger version with approximate street reopening times.
