Beyond the work that’s being done on Wilshire Boulevard, there are a multitude of street closures that will affect traffic in and around our area. Here is a list of important activity that you should be aware of:

Academy Awards Closures | February 23 – March 3

In preparation for the annual Academy Awards ceremonies at the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, all lanes of Hollywood Boulevard will be closed effective 10pm Sunday, February 23 between Highland Avenue and Orange. This section of the Boulevard will open up again on Monday, March 3 at 6am.

2014 Asics LA Marathon | Sunday, March 9

Street Closures begin at 3am for this annual event. The course starts at Dodger Stadium and runs through downtown, before heading north/northwest along Sunset and up through Hollywood. Then it’s off through Beverly Hills with a 26.2 mile goal that ends in Santa Monica at the beach. We’ll have more details the week of, but for now it’s important to know that this is the Sunday it will be tough to head north!

Sycamore Trunk Line in Hollywood |  March 15 – 3 months

Beginning Saturday, March 15, 2013, an LADWP Trunk Line Construction crew will implement a new work zone on Sunset Boulevard between La Brea Avenue and Formosa Avenue to start the final connection work between the new Sycamore Trunk Line and the existing Sunset Trunk Line. Construction is expected to continue for approximately three months.

Construction will occur Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. During the three-month construction period, one westbound lane and two eastbound lanes on Sunset Boulevard will remain open at all times. Motorists are advised to avoid the general area of Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue and use alternate routes.

Resurfacing

Bureau of Street Services (BSS) tweeted about the recently completed resurfacing of La Brea between 3rd Street and Beverly.

Plus, the BSS  completed a section of 3rd Street, between Fairfax and Hauser over the weekend. Find a couple of tweets from Nazario Sauceda, Director of Department of Public Works Bureau of Street Services…

Next up:  3rd Street between Hauser and La Brea.

We’ll have more info on the timing of this work as it becomes available.
