Groundwork Coffee Co. is opening two new retail locations, one of which will be on Larchmont Boulevard in the space formerly occupied  by Baciami Gelateria and Creperie. The move on to Larchmont Boulevard – a street that is known for its abundance of coffee choices – solidifies the homegrown Los Angeles company’s standing within the city’s vibrant specialty coffee market.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Groundwork began in Venice Beach, CA, as a single coffee shop that also sold rare and used books. Local demand soon became so great that it began roasting full-time. This small-batch operation soon transformed into one of the very first certified organic coffee roasters in California, and would quickly go on to become the largest organic coffee roaster in Los Angeles. The company’s sustainable, relationship-based, organic coffee sourcing has set an industry standard, as has its solar-powered low-emissions roasting technology.
Today, Groundwork operates nine cafe locations throughout the city and distributes its coffees to more than 900 wholesale customers across the U.S., including the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. Â The Larchmont construction will begin in earnest after work is completed on the other store that Groundwork is opening – in the Arts District on Traction Avenue.

Really??? Another coffee shop! Give me a break! Plus, Coffee Bean is 2 doors down! Enough already!
Now the sidewalks of Larchmont Boulevard will be filled with folks paralyzed with indecision as to which coffee shop they should patronize….
Has the owner of Groundwork ever been to Larchmont? What sort of clown looks at a single block, sees 5 coffee shops (one of which is phenomenal) and thinks: “Oh yeah. This is where I will build my empire!”
Laughable.
