Buzz staff stopped by Groundwork, the newest specialty coffee spot on Larchmont this morning at 139 1/2 N Larchmont to check out the urban/industrial renovation of the space and taste some coffee. They had just opened yesterday around 12:30 p.m. so we got in the door, just 24 hours after they opened!

We ordered an iced mocha, tea, since one of us doesn’t drink coffee, and a banana chocolate chip muffin and sat down at a table in the front on the recently ground, stained and polished sidewalk. Manager Audrey Italiano filled us in on the Groundwork approach to coffee, tea and community. Owner, Josh Pourgol stopped by to chat as well.

“We use freshly roasted beans that we get from our North Hollywood location, so everything is super fresh and local,” said Italiano.  “Since we are a small shop, you are likely to see the same people working here every day. We want to get to know our customers so we can prepare your order when you walk in the door.”

In a few weeks Groundwork plans to be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from their full kitchen in the back. “We’re an all food, all day concept,” said Josh Pourgol who also owns the Groundwork on Montana Avenue. The Larchmont location will be open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Based on our experience this morning, we are all in favor of all food, all day!
