La Brea Bakery Stays Open through End of Year

The familiar green door will remain open till the end of the calendar year.

While Campanille officially closed its doors this week, the La Brea Bakery next door will remain open until the end of the year giving residents their favorite baked goods for the holidays.

The cozy brick storefront has been the original home of La Brea Bakery since its origins in 1989 when Nancy Silverton and Mark Peel brought European-style hard crust artisanal breads and baked goods to fans in the neighborhood. It has since grown to provide breads for some of the area’s most exclusive restaurants, and eventually to delivery of La Brea Bakery goods to supermarkets nation-wide.

“We are relocating in the new year,  somewhere nearby, but can’t disclose the details quite yet,” a staff person at La Brea Bakery told the Buzz. Rumor has it that it may be a location in Hollywood, but that has yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, the bakery will remain open with their regular hours. Holiday hours this year will be 8 am – 12 noon on the Wednesday before, and on Thanksgiving Day, closed Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Picking up your Kalmata Olive Oval may not be as easy come January 1st, so stop in soon if you want to slice into the original loaves in the original location, before it’s gone.
