The criminal case against the Larchmont Bungalow restaurant, 107 N Larchmont Blvd., has been held over until Monday, August 7, at the request of Commissioner Elizabeth Harris, the presiding judge in the case. Because Commissioner Harris was unable to hear the case on August 2nd, due to a scheduling conflict, the case will now be heard on  Monday, August 7 instead.
According to City Attorney Serena Christion, Commissioner Harris was unable to be in court on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, when the Bungalow was originally scheduled to report on its progress as part of the “no contest” plea it entered into last February.   In exchange for probation and suspending his sentencing for 18 months, the business’ late owner Albert Mizrahi had agreed to bring the illegal restaurant into compliance with City zoning codes. The deadline for compliance was August 2, 2107.
The Bungalow has been operating without a certificate of occupancy since it was revoked by the City in 2009 for violating the zoning codes on Larchmont Blvd. that limit the number of restaurants. On Tuesday, August 1, the Bungalow posted a sign in the window announcing its closure.
Finally! Sorry that the legal proceedings did not force the closing – they should have, years ago. But glad to see them go.
