LA Weekly reported that Hatfields will close at the end of December.  The Melrose establishment that’s been on many “Best of” lists for LA cuisine has been offering modern American faire on Melrose just west of Highland since 2010, and for four years prior to that a bit further west. A quote from Karen Hatfield who with partner Quinn Hatfield are owners of the restaurant, appeared in the LA Weekly piece:
Hatfield’s will close its doors at the end of December. The restaurant has had an amazing run and we are grateful for all of our loyal patrons throughout the years. This decision is bittersweet for Quinn and I, but we’re excited for what’s to come. Our efforts will be focused on the opening of our newest restaurant this month, Odys + Penelope, and continuing to deliver a high-quality experience at The Sycamore Kitchen.
Odys + Penelope, their newest venture, will soon be a local option for Larchmont and Greater Wilshire area residents. Named for the ancient Greek king in Homer’s “Odyssey” and his wife, the new endeavor is expected to be a meat-centric grill and smokehouse establishment, located on La Brea not far from the couple’s Sycamore Kitchen.
Lucky for us, Sycamore Kitchen, the Hatfield’s other local eatery, is going strong. The breakfast and lunch spot always seems to be teaming with contented customers who love their pork belly hash and Jerusalem Bowls (wheat berries, lentils, chicken, chilies and fried eggs) while sitting on the outdoor patio at 143 S La Brea Ave.
