Big Sunday Hosts Halloween-Week Blood Drive (and Other Spooky Events)

The good folks at Big Sunday are hosting a whole Wicked Week of Halloween-related events next week, including one that’s particularly bloody, but not intentionally spooky – a Cedars Sinai Blood Drive.

According to Big Sunday, there has been a shortage of blood during the COVID-19 pandemic, so the Cedars Bloodmobile will be returning to the Big Sunday office, 6111 Melrose Ave. on Wednesday, October 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  If you would like to make a donation, you can make an appointment here.  Cedars staff will be running the event, and all possible safety measures will be observed.

Meanwhile, other Big Sunday activities for the holiday week include:

Monday, October 26  – 4-5 p.m. via Zoom
How to Paint a Pumpkin: A master pumpkin decorator will provide instruction.
Tuesday, October 27 – 4-5 p.m. via Zoom
Face Painting 101: A professional make-up artist will give you tips on painting your face (or someone else’s face) like a pro.
Tuesday, October 27 – 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Big Sunday office
Spend one of four one-hour shifts during this period putting together bags of candy for underserved kids.
Wednesday, October 28 – 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Bigg Sunday office
The Bloodiest Bloodmobile (see above for details)

A Very Spooky Magic Show! Phil Van Tee is back, just in time to shock and delight kids everywhere.
Friday, October 30 – 4-5 p.m. via Zoom
The TGIF TGIH (Thank God it’s Halloween!) Party for Kids! You haven’t been to a Halloween party ‘til you’ve been to Big Sunday’s TGIF TGIH Zoom party. There will be games! Prizes! Fortune telling! Dancing! Yes, dancing! Wear your costume!
Friday, October 30 – 7-8 p.m. via Zoom
Pablo’s Special Halloween Terrifying Trivia for Adults: You know the game. You might know the answers. You’ll be amazed by the prizes.

All events are free, and you can sign up at https://bigsunday.org/get-involved/wickedweek/

Also, if you can’t attend but would still like to pitch in, Big Sunday would love your help with candy donations for the bags they’re planning to donate (along with costumes), to hundreds of underserved kids.  See the Wicked Week link above for donation information.  They need 10,000 pieces…which sounds like a scary goal, but should be fright free if you can help!
