CD4 Candidate Forum Monday

With city primary elections just a few months away, the Mid-City West Community Council will be hosting a CD4 Candidate Forum this coming Monday, January 13, 2020, at 6 p.m. at the Greenway Court Theater, 544 N Fairfax Ave.

The event will feature the two challengers in the race to represent Los Angeles City Council District 4: Sarah Kate Levy, a writer/women’s advocate, and Nithya Raman, leader of a homelessness non-profit organization. (Incumbent Councilmember David Ryu will not be participating in this event, due to a scheduling conflict. His campaign staff told the Buzz that he is looking forward to participating in future forums.)

Marisa Glucoft, MCWCC Board Secretary and Representative At Large told the Buzz that they are hoping for an audience of people who are either interested in learning more about the upcoming race, or enjoying a free dinner from Canter’s Deli…or both.

“We know there’s a lot of interest, since it’s a presidential primary, but we also know it’s hard to get people interested in local races,” Glucoft told the Buzz.

The event is free and open to the public, but organizers are asking everyone to sign up for the event through Eventbrite because seats are limited.

The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m., with registration and catering by Canter’s Deli. The program will begin at 7 p.m. After opening remarks from each candidate, freelance journalist and local resident Marissa Gluck will moderate a conversation with the candidates based on questions from stakeholders. Mid City West will collect questions for Q&A on-site, but attendees can also submit their questions for the candidates ahead of time at https://forms.gle/e2QMxTrTodZRBFReA.
