Great Streets Design Workshop for Western Ave. on Wednesday

Neighbors looking over design ideas at the “Welcome to Western” Community workshop held last month. The next workshop is Wednesday evening at 265 S. Western Ave., outside the post office.

Neighbors are invited to a design workshop on Wednesday, November 8, from 5-8 p.m., to learn more about some of the design improvements being considered for Western Avenue.  The Western Avenue project, dubbed “Welcome to Western,” is part of  Mayor Garcetti’s street improvement program, LA Great Streets.  This is the second workshop organized by LA-Más, the urban design firm contracted by the City.  LA-Más will present ideas generated from the first community workshop held in October.

“We will provide some food from local restaurants in the neighborhood and set up some furniture outside of the post office so people can sit down, eat, and experience the joy of an activated sidewalk,”  Avital Aboody, Community & Policy Associate for LA-Más, told the Buzz.  “We will have 5 different large boards on easels and each one will display different types of amenities that we propose based on needs that we heard expressed in our kick-off event and our community outreach. We will be standing by each board and engaging participants in a dialogue about the proposals and asking people to share their feedback verbally and on post-its notes. Participants will also be asked to rank their top two improvements.”

Stop by between 5 and 8 p.m. to check out the improvements planned for Western Avenue.
