Heads-Up on Hollywood Street Closures This Weekend

There are a couple of days every year when it’s best to just avoid trying to travel from our neighborhood to points north, at least if you need to pass through Hollywood.  One of those is LA Marathon day…and the other is the day of the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade.  Tomorrow – Sunday, November 26 – is that latter day this year, when streets will be closed and traffic definitely insane in the area roughly bounded by Hollywood Blvd., Vine St., Santa Monica Blvd. and La Brea Ave.

The parade itself starts at 5 p.m., and will travel from Hollywood and Orange Dr. east to Vine St., then south to Sunset and back west to Orange.  But street closures and no parking zones will be in effect for several more hours, and for several blocks in each direction of the parade route.  Here is the official list of closures and no parking areas, from the parade website:

From 11 am to midnight Sunday, Cherokee Ave between Hollywood Blvd and Selma Avenue will be closed
The northbound and southbound off-ramps at Highland will remain open

Freeway Closures: U.S. 101 Hollywood Freeway:
Northbound and southbound off-ramps of Cahuenga Boulevard and Highland Avenue will all be closed at 3:00 p.m., reopening at 10:00 p.m.

No Parking Sign Postings:
On Tuesday, Nov. 21,2017, posting will begin on those streets that are designated “NO PARKING” for Saturday, Nov. 25, Sunday, Nov 26and Monday, Nov 27, 2017.

Please see the link above for further details.  Also, if you plan to attend the parade, please consider walking, biking or taking Metro.  In addition, say the organizers, “If you do not have tickets to the grandstands please enjoy the parade from the curbside anywhere after Highland Ave. and along the rest of the route as illustrated above. The area around Hollywood and Highland may be the most congested.”
