Jeni’s Celebrates Summer with Free Ice Cream from 7-11 p.m. Today

Yesterday was the summer solstice, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at 123 N. Larchmont is celebrating the season in a big way – with free scoops of ice cream from 7-11 p.m. tonight.

“It’s a long-standing tradition for us to hand out free scoops at our grand opening parties,” said an email sent out by the company yesterday.  “Now that we can officially welcome you back into our shops, why not throw an epic, nationwide, free-scoop, faux grand opening bonanza?!”

A call to our local shop this morning confirmed that the event is definitely on for tonight (and that the store will be closed all day today to prepare).  Doors open at 7 p.m., and everyone in line up until the 11 p.m. closing time will be served.  Also note that these are regular-size scoops, and can be enjoyed in a waffle cone, waffle bowl, and as a single scoop or two half scoops.  “It’s just a great way to celebrate!” said the employee we spoke to.

Can’t argue with that.

Happy summer!
