Plenty of Good Music at The Hotel Cafe

If you are into music exploration, The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood plays host to some really talented artists. The intimate performance space – accessed via an alley off Cahuenga (well lit and clean) – is a favorite location for singer-songwriters because it gives them a chance to perform in front of small audiences.

We’re always looking at the calendar to see who is on the schedule…and in the next few weeks there are a few artists we thought we would share. And if you are on Cahuenga for music, don’t miss some of our favorite restaurants for a quick bite…Chan Darae, Stout or Umami are all good places to kick off what should be a fun evening.

Rumer & Terry Reid – Wednesday, January 23rd at 9:30pm

We were in the UK a couple of years ago and Rumer was the hot, new up-and-comer on the British music scene. I remember asking the clerk at HMV for a recommendation and then buying her CD because I knew I couldn’t get it here in the US. Rumer is heavily influenced by Burt Bacharach, with a voice that sounds like Karen Carpenter. She’s one of those artists you’ve probably heard but just don’t know her name. At The Hotel Cafe, Rumer performs with English rock guitarist and vocalist Terry Reid. Tickets are $20 in advance.

Meiko – Thursday, January 31st at 9:00pm

Singer/songwriter Meiko probably feels like she’s at home when she’s at The Hotel Cafe…she’s a recurring performer there. Her style is a cross between indie pop and folk – and her beautifully clean alto vocals ad a rich texture to some catchy hits. So catchy that you’ve probably heard one of her songs on your favorite TV show. The fact that Meiko is a regular at The Hotel Cafe should make for a really comfortable evening. Tickets are $10 in advance.

Holly Williams – Wednesday, February 6th at 7:00pm

The daughter of Hank Williams, Jr. and granddaughter of the legendary Hank Williams, Holly Williams released her debut album, The Ones We Never Knew (Universal South), in 2004, and the follow- up, Here With Me (Mercury Nashville) in 2009. She originally wanted to be a model and has honed her passion for style and fashion into her clothing boutique, H. Audrey in Nashville. She also shares her love of food and travel on her blog, The Afternoon Off. We won’t miss this set…her voice has so much character. You can catch Holly on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on January 30th and then live at The Hotel Cafe a week later. Tickets are $10 in advance.
