Weekend Buzz – October 2-4



The “weekend” started early this week, with at least one featured event that opened on Thursday (but it runs through Sunday, so don’t worry – you can still catch it).

koreanfestival1aFirst, because it’s already up and running on Friday, is the 42nd Annual Los Angeles Korean Festival, which runs from Thursday through Sunday, October 1-4, at Seoul International Park (3250 San Marino Street, near Olympic and Normandie).  The festival features all things Korean:  food, music and dance performances, shopping, exhibits and more.  Hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

estatesale1aIn general, Saturday looks like a good day for shopping.  First, a huge, high-end estate sale at 1058 S. Meadowbrook Ave., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The sale promises “a treasure trove of unique and eclectic finds,” including:

ampersandaAfter the estate sale, head over to Ampersand, the “ladies consignment” boutique at 658 N. Larchmont.  The store, which was named  “one of LA’s Best Consignment Stores “ earlier this year by, is offering 25% off jeans, pants and skirts.

books3aAnother beloved merchant formerly with a store on North Larchmont, but now without walls – Dawson Books – will have a booth at the Pasadena Antiquarian Book, Print, Photo and Paper Fair, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring books on phtography and CA history.  You can find them in Booth C-1, Exhibit Hall B, at the Pasadena Center, 300 East Gardena Street, Pasadena.

vernetti2aAnd finally, in between Saturday shopping stops, or for a leisurely Sunday morning, try the new brunch service at Vernetti, 225 N. Larchmont Blvd. The menu includes everything from Eggs Benedict to biscuits and gravy…including a few distinctly Italian-flavored offerings such as polenta and carbonara.
