The Rhone Rangers is America’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to promoting American Rhone varietal wines. American Rhone-style wines are made from the same grapes that have flourished for centuries in France’s Rhone River Valley, and their growing popularity in the United States speaks to their versatility with food, wide range of rich flavors, and to the skills of American winemakers.
Sunday, June 3rd marks the date of the group’s Los Angeles Tasting Event where over 45 wineries will pour over 200 American-grown Rhone wines. A $45 General Admission ticket admits the bearer to enjoy the walk around tasting from 3:30p-6p at the historic Vibiana (the former Cathedral that is now used as an entertainment venue).
We recently traveled through Santa Maria and ambled off the 101 at Foxen Canyon Road to the Curtis Winery where we were introduced to the southern end of a beautiful canyon dotted with winery after winery focused on the Rhone varietal. We didn’t have a lot of time that day and intend to head back there…but never thought that they would follow us to LA so soon!
In our estimation, this is a wonderful opportunity to discover and maybe even to get started on planning a trip to the Central Coast wine country.
