Babbling Brook Still a Feature of Longwood Area Home

I’ve always wanted to get inside the gates of 4922 West 8th St, the hidden and tropical compound on 8th Street at Longwood below Wilshire Blvd, because it’s one of the few spots in Los Angeles where you can walk on a city sidewalk and hear a babbling brook.

The Mediterranean estate was designed in 1927 by architect Ralph Flewelling, who created homes and buildings in the 1920s and beyond including a Beverly Hills Spanish estate recently renovated by Diane Keaton. The 8th Street residence – a six bedroom, 4 1/2 bath home owned by a “famous designer”  – is on the market for $4.6 million according to the listing that shares some great photos of the hidden Brookside gem.

No word yet if there will be an Open House this weekend. But if there is, you can bet I’m going to go dip my hand into that city stream.
