A Windsor Square renovation was featured in Dwell magazine this month, transforming the tattered garage of a Colonial on the 200 block of Lorraine into a modern studio for work and play.
The monthly magazine Dwell features modern design in homes, furniture, decor and lifestyle. This modern interpretation of a 1920’s space, that still fills the bill of providing covered parking for two automobiles (as required by law, even if they’re never parked in there now) is credited to Mike Jacobs Architects. As Dwell writer Sara Carpenter shares in her story, “Paying heed to the proportioning and materials from the old architecture he [Jacobs] reinterpreted traditional construction methods to create a modern space that fits in its traditional envelope without jarring the eye.”
The simple lines, wide open entryway, repeating second story windows, and inviting fresh interiors sure make me wish I had this pool house cum play house in my own backyard. If you enjoy sneaking a peak at your neighbor’s cool new project, the Dwell article and its lovely slideshow of photos by Michael Wells are a fun treat.
